Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art, combat sport, and a self defense system that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting. The art was derived from the Japanese martial art of Kodokan judo in the early 20th century. It teaches that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant by using leverage and proper technique—most notably by applying joint-locks and chokeholds to defeat the other person. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training can be used for sport grappling tournaments (gi and no-gi) and mixed martial arts (MMA) competition or self defense. Sparring (commonly referred to as ‘rolling’) and live drilling play a major role in training, and a premium is placed on performance, especially in competition, in relation to progress and ascension through the grades/belts. Benefits:

  • Excellent form of self-defense
  • Enhances flexibility and stamina
  • Strength conditioning
  • Strength and speed
  • Confidence and Discipline
  • Develops self awareness and assertiveness
  • Stress reduction and positive attitude
Muay Thai Kickboxing
Muay Thai is the art of eight limbs. The history stems from Thailand and an older form of Kick Boxing called Muay Boran. It is also the country’s national sport. Now practiced with boxing gloves and pads (sometimes), it has similarities to Western Boxing. Although some similarities are present, there are vast differences. As derived from its pseudonym “the art of eight limbs”, Muay Thai incorporates the use of hands, elbows, knees, and shins. Strikes from skilled practitioners can be extremely damaging. These damaging strikes make this martial art one of the more brutal martial arts in existence.

Boxing
Boxing is in principle a sport, more than a martial art. However when it comes to punching technique and power, there are few martial arts that are as focused on fist strikes as Boxing. Fighters are well known for fantastic footwork and the manipulation of angles to beat their opponents. Combined, these two aspects make these athletes very dangerous in fights and a fantastic form of self-defense.

  • Excellent exercise, particularly cardiovascular
  • Hand-Eye coordination for athletes of all sports
  • Self-defense
  • Increased mobility and improved footwork
  • Increased speed and accuracy
  • Stress reduction
  • Confidence and discipline
